(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, MAY 28 – The balance of a series of checks carried out by the Carabinieri of the Nas of Parma in the provinces of Parma, Piacenza, Modena and Reggio Emilia is 470 kilograms of food seized and two suspended activities inspected numerous commercial establishments for the sale and administration of food. Irregularities were found in nine structures – which, in two cases, led to the suspension of commercial activities – for which administrative sanctions were imposed for a total amount of € 14,440.

In particular in Piacenza, at a butcher’s shop, the military seized 181 kilograms of frozen lamb steaks, worth about 2,000 euros, found in a poor state of preservation. During the inspection, hygienic-sanitary deficiencies were also found: a complaint was made in a state of freedom against the owner of the butcher’s shop for the poor state of conservation of the food.

In Piacentino, again, 27.5 kilograms of various foodstuffs with no indications on traceability were seized at a restaurant and hygienic-sanitary deficiencies in the kitchen were found: penalties for 3,000 euros were imposed on the owner. Due to hygienic deficiencies, the Piacenza Ausl has suspended the catering activity until the complete restoration of suitable conditions.

In Reggio Emilia at a café-diner, 16 kilograms of food were seized as expired and hygienic-sanitary deficiencies were found due to dirt and the presence of cockroaches. The Reggio Emilia Local Health Authority issued a provision to suspend the activity until suitable conditions were restored, while administrative penalties of € 3,440 were imposed on the owner of the activity.
