Zuppi returns to Bologna, ‘this is a beautiful home’

(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, MAY 28 – Cardinal Matteo Zuppi returned to Bologna as president of the CEI, greeted by a great applause and by the great support of many people, including the mayor Matteo Lepore, at the start of the ‘Run for Mary ‘, a non-competitive race that is part of the week of celebrations for the descent into the city of the Madonna di San Luca.

“I’m back home – he said – if there isn’t a house there isn’t everything else, I’ll be a little bit in Bologna and a little bit in Rome, then I’ll be shooting: but Bologna is a beautiful home”.

For Zuppi it will be a weekend of great liturgical commitment, precisely because of the initiatives linked to the Madonna di San Luca, which began last Saturday. “It is a restart after the pandemic – he said – finally we are experiencing the descent of the Madonna di San Luca by living the community, unfortunately these days I have not been there, but I have seen the beautiful images of children, of coming together for peace: it is important to be together to fight the demon of war, we must learn to walk together “.

Zuppi greeted and thanked for the support, without shirking jokes, as with those who said to him: “Don Matteo, the Bolognese already think they are pope!”. “Not me,” he replied smiling. (HANDLE).
