He cut Imu and Tari from relatives, suspended municipal employee

(ANSA) – PALERMO, MAY 31 – He would have recorded payments from Imu or Tari that did not occur or reduced the amounts due without documentary justifications to family and friends, resulting in a missed collection of about 16 thousand euros. This is the accusation contested by the Prosecutor against an employee of the Tax Office of the Municipality of Palermo. The man, under investigation for computer fraud and unauthorized access to the computer system, was suspended for one year from exercising the public office. The provision, issued by the investigating judge, was carried out by soldiers from the financial police of the provincial command.

The investigations of the ‘Tax Discount’ operation of the military of the Economic-Financial Police nucleus were started after the report arrived by the Municipality of Palermo on the “Sige Fluendo” database used for the management of the payments of the Imu and Tari taxes . The investigation also made use of wiretapping and observation services. According to the indictment, the municipal employee recorded payments and payments that never occurred and reduced the amounts due without documentary justifications. The investigators would have found a significant number of unauthorized accesses to the information system of the Municipality, carried out to reduce or cancel the Imu or Tari taxation of family members and acquaintances of the employee.
