(ANSA) – VARESE, MAY 31 – Alessandro Maja, 57, who killed his wife Stefania Pivetta, 54, and his younger daughter Giulia, in their villa in Samarate, in the province of Varese.
The man was in fact transferred this afternoon from the psychiatric prison ward of the San Paolo in Milan to the Monza prison. His lawyer, Enrico Milani, who went to see him this morning together with his colleague Sabrina Lamera, confirmed this to ANSA to tell him that his son Nicolò has come out of a coma.
. “We told him that Nicolò showed signs of improvement, that he moved, and he reacted with a semblance of a smile, but it is as if he lived in a world all his own,” said the lawyer. “He told us that he is taking about 15 tablets a day, which I think are necessary to keep him sedated, so I don’t think there are many emotions,” he added.
Maja, who was initially declared incompatible with prison due to his psychiatric conditions, then returned to the Monza penitentiary, on the basis of the doctors’ decision. “I don’t know what the doctors have concluded, we don’t know anything – added Milani – Certainly we need a psychiatric report to certify whether or not Maja was capable of understanding and wanting when she acted”.
