(ANSA) – PADUA, MAY 31 – The Public Prosecutor of Padua has asked for 12 indictments and 5 dismissals as part of the investigation into illicit intermediation and exploitation of work that focuses on the Bm Service of Trento in relation to the use of labor in the Padua-based companies Grafica Veneta Spa and Trebaseleghe and Barizza International Srl of Loreggia.
The investigation is the one that in July 2021 had led to the arrests of 11 people, under investigation for illegal hiring of 11 Pakistani workers, hired by the Trentino company. The owners were accused of exploiting and beating Pakistani workers, forcing them to work 12-hour shifts, without any compensation. Two other suspects, Giampaolo Pinton and Giorgio Bertan, respectively head of security and CEO of Grafica Veneta last October had negotiated a six-month sentence, commuted to a 45,000 euro fine, for exploitation of labor. Finally, the prosecutor asked for the dismissal of 5 people, including Fabio Franceschi, owner of Grafica Veneta “since no evidence was collected against him – writes the attorney of Padua Antonino Cappelleri – about the awareness of the situation of foreign workers.
