(ANSA) – SESTRI LEVANTE, 01 JUN – The beach of the Baia del Silenzio in Sestri Levante, one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy and a UNESCO heritage site, will be free but limited to avoid overcrowding. The decision, effective from Friday, was taken by the municipal administration, after the success of the limitations of the last two years due to the covid emergency. There will be three entrances to the beach to allow a total of 500 people to stop.

Without using fixed positions, tourists and residents will be able to pass through the three gates, supervised by personnel specialized in security, and access the beach and the stretch of water. In addition, there will also be a corridor for those who only intend to swim and not stop. “We wanted to repeat the past experience – says the mayor Valentina Ghio – to safeguard one of the most characteristic corners of Liguria assaulted by thousands of people. The management will be entrusted to Mediterraneo Servizi, a subsidiary of the municipality, which will also offer a series of collateral services: from tourist information, to the rental of bicycles to reach the Bay from any part of the municipality, avoiding cars in the center “.
