Smuraglia: funeral parlor opened in the headquarters of the Municipality of Milan

The three Italian mountaineers stranded on Monte Rosa have been saved (ANSA)

(ANSA) – MILAN, 03 JUN – The funeral home of Carlo Smuraglia, honorary president of the Anpi and former partisan who died at the age of 99 on 30 May last, is open from 9 this morning. The coffin is in the Sala Alessi in Palazzo Marino, seat of the Municipality of Milan, where the mourning banners of the Lombardy Region, Metropolitan City and Anpi have been arranged. On the coffin, in the center of the room, a funeral cushion of red roses and Smuraglia’s photo.

The first members of the Anpi of the Milan sections have already arrived to give their last farewell. “You will always remain a beautiful partisan flower, your perfume will be wherever you are. Maria Grazia” is the first message left next to a red rose at the foot of the coffin. Lamberto Bertolè, president of the Milan City Council, was also present at the opening of the Burning Chamber.

The funeral home will remain open to the public until 2.30pm.

At 4 pm there will be a farewell ceremony with the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala. (HANDLE).
