(ANSA) – VATICAN CITY, JUN 08 – Religious books cannot pass customs in Pakistan: this is the reason why a publication that was to reach Rome from Lahore, in the north of the country, was blocked. It was a book on the abuse of girls and boys, already published in English, Spanish, French and Korean. The Urdu version was intended for Pope Francis and delivery to the Vatican was already on the agenda on Saturday 11 June during an event with a group of religious.

The customs officers of the Asian country probably did not know that the book had such an illustrious recipient. “It is not allowed for the customs of Pakistan to export religious books”, is written in the message with which the small volume was returned to the sender.

In reality, the book does not even have an exclusively religious content but deals with the issue of abuses against boys and girls and the ways to get out of this scourge that afflicts many countries, including Pakistan.

Thanks to a pdf sent digitally, the book in the Pakistani language will be printed in Italy and delivered to the Pope, overcoming the ‘barriers’ of the rules that limit freedom of faith. (HANDLE).
