The US authorities have extended the ban on flights of American aircraft to some areas in the flight information zone of the Dnieper for two years. At the same time, in a number of cases, take-off and landing at the airports of Kharkov, Dnipro and Zaporozhye are allowed.
This is stated in the order of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
What’s in the document
The document says that the ban will be extended until October 27, 2023.
“The ban has been extended due to threats to the security of US civil aviation due to ongoing fighting along the line of demarcation between Ukraine and Russian-backed separatists and due to increased tensions between Russia and Ukraine. These circumstances result in a permanent, unintended risk to US civil aviation due to possible miscalculation or misidentification.“, – said in the order of the FAU.
Where can you fly
The ban applies to all US passenger and cargo airlines, as well as US-licensed pilots, with the exception of those working for foreign carriers.
At the same time, the FAA allowed, if necessary, take-off and landing at the international airports of Kharkov, Dnipro and Zaporozhye, if approved by the competent authorities of Ukraine. In addition, it is possible to ignore the ban in an emergency.
