(ANSA) – ANCONA, 12 JUN – The participants in the 44 / o Macerata-Loreto pilgrimage on foot arrived this morning in Piazza della Madonna, in Loreto, in front of the Basilica of the Holy House. The pilgrims walked all night, praying for peace and for Ukraine, as Pope Francis had asked yesterday evening, by telephone before leaving the Sferisterio in Macerata.
Upon arrival, the pilgrims were greeted by card. Matteo Maria Zuppi, president of the CEI, by the archbishop and pontifical delegate of Loreto Fabio Dal Cin and by Msgr. Giancarlo Vecerrica, former bishop of Fabriano and creator of the Pilgrimage over 40 years ago, who thanked them. The theme of war and prayer for Ukraine have been the recurring theme, since last night’s celebration of the 2022 edition, accompanied by the Torch of Peace. (HANDLE).
