(ANSA) – TURIN, 15 JUN – The trial for the alleged extortion of Chiara Appendino and Deputy Minister Laura Castelli, which was allegedly authored by the former spokesman of the mayor Luca Pasquaretta, began today in the Turin court. The story, dating back to 2018, is part of a broader investigation that includes six defendants.
According to the accusation of prosecutor Gianfranco Colace, after the termination of his collaboration relationship with the mayor, Pasquaretta would have exerted pressure to obtain new positions. The former spokesman, however, rejects the charge and Appendino and Castelli have not filed a civil action. The court rejected an objection by the lawyers on the usability of some telephone interceptions and did not accept the proposal presented by the defense of one of the accused, Giuseppe Musacchio, at the time extraordinary commissioner of the Consorzio di Bonifica della Basilicata, to transfer the part of the process that concerns him. The lawsuit was adjourned in September. (HANDLE).
