(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 17 JUN – The megayacht “A” of the Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko, placed under seizure as part of the sanctions after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, has been transferred from the San Marco arsenal to an area in the harbor , in the Gulf of Trieste, at anchor, always under administrative freeze (from 11 March last). The arsenal, on the other hand, where it was housed from the moment of the provision, is once again available to Fincantieri.
The three-mast (of which the master is 90 meters high) “A” is not just an ultra-luxury ship, it is the largest sailing vessel in the world, weighs 12,500 tons and is 143 meters long; its value is estimated at 530 million euros. Its final destination is moored at a quay nearing completion, but for the moment it will remain at anchor near the Adria Terminal pier. “A” was designed by Doelker + Voges (for the exteriors), by Philippe Starck (for the interiors) based on an original idea by Jacques Garcia (for the exteriors) and built by Nobiskrug in Kiel, Germany; she has an unusual and particularly aerodynamic shape.
Melnichenko is considered to be one of the hundred richest men in the world, according to Forbes. (HANDLE).
