(ANSA) – SAN NICANDRO GARGANICO (FOGGIA), JUNE 17 – They had transformed two recreational clubs in San Nicandro Garganico (Foggia) into drug supermarkets open day and night, where many customers consumed the drug.

The clubs were very popular with children, they had video surveillance systems and double armored doors. And some minors were used to “test” drugs, especially marijuana. This was confirmed by the military of the provincial command of the Guardia di Finanza of Foggia who arrested 16 people (14 in prison and two under house arrest) in execution of an order issued by the investigating judge of Foggia. A 17th suspect subject to a custody order, a local convict, has not yet been found. The suspects are accused in various ways of detention for the purpose of drug trafficking and violations of the law on weapons.

The investigation started with the seizure, in August 2020 in the countryside of San Marco in Lamis, of 5,100 marijuana plants. On that occasion, a convict was arrested in the act of crime and found in possession of a pistol with an abraded registration number. He was on the plantation with three other men, the latter reported on the loose. The financiers found that the three ran the two recreation clubs. During the investigations that ended in June 2021, investigators found over 2,500 drug dealing incidents in which hashish and cocaine were also sold to minors. (HANDLE).
