(ANSA) – ANCONA, 20 JUN – “125 Miles for a Breath ‘: from Civitanova Marche to Slovenia by kayak. For the second consecutive year Alessandro Gattafoni’ challenges’ cystic fibrosis and gives a message of hope to people who, like him , live with the disease with an awareness-raising initiative, to raise funds to be allocated to Lifc projects (Italian League of Cystic Fibrosis) in favor of the activities of the Social Service, to protect patients with cystic fibrosis and their families.

The new journey in the Adriatic Sea of ​​Gattafoni and Lifc will start from Civitanova Marche on 23 June, weather conditions permitting, and will develop up the coast to reach Trieste (28/6) and stop in Ancona (23/6), Pesaro and Cesenatico (24/6), Chioggia and Venice (26/6), Cavallino and Bibione (27/6), Trieste (28/6) and the touchdown in Slovenia. Throughout the journey Alessandro will be followed by the “Desire”, the boat of the Olympian Daniele Scarpa (gold in K2 in Atlanta 1996), and a specialist doctor will monitor his physical conditions in real time. The message is strong: “cystic fibrosis is the most widespread genetic disease, but therapeutic advances and physical activity can today represent more than just hope; they can allow many patients and their families to truly look beyond and realize the dream of a normal life “.

With the Lifc Regional Associations, each stage will also be a moment to give courage to over 6 thousand patients with cystic fibrosis. “Medicine in the last ten years has made great strides – says Antonio Guarini, national vice president of Lifc – and we hope it will be able to do more for people with FC who currently do not have a cure. These initiatives are important to make the disease known. to make public opinion sensitive and to converge together, the scientific, political world and associations towards solutions and commitments that can improve the quality of life of our patients “.
