Work accident: two injured by iodine, do not risk their lives

(ANSA) – MILAN, 21 JUN – The seriousness of the health conditions of one of the two workers hit by vaporized iodine was reduced last night during a maintenance intervention at the Bracco Imaging plants in Cesano Maderno (Monza). It seemed – according to what was explained by 118 – he had burns on 90% of his body: urgently transported to the Large Burn Center of the Niguarda hospital in Milan, it was found that the worker reported burns on 30% of his body. It is not currently believed to be life threatening: the prognosis is 30 days. His colleague, on the other hand, had only been reached by iodine splashes on a small part of his body.

The company specializes in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients, used to produce X-ray and magnetic resonance contrast media. From what has emerged for now, around one thirty the connection of a vaporized iodine pipe has given way, investing the two employees – external to the company – in maintenance. The two workers are resident in Legnano (Milan) and Seveso (Monza). (HANDLE).
