Red dot, which indicates a maximum alert level for heat waves, is scheduled for today, June 21, in Turin and Bolzano, for Wednesday 22 in Bologna and Bolzano, while the cities with critical heat levels will rise to 5 during the day on Thursdays, namely Ancona, Bologna, Bolzano, Florence and Perugia. This was indicated by the Ministry of Health on the portal of the bulletins on heat waves in Italy, which monitors 27 Italian cities.
The orange sticker is expected today in Ancona, Brescia, Florence, Milan, Perugia and Verona. Tomorrow, however, it is expected in 9 cities: Ancona, Campobasso, Florence, Latina, Palermo, Perugia, Pescara, Rieti and Rome. Finally, for Thursday, they will rise to 10: Brescia, Campobasso, Catania, Latina, Milan, Palermo, Pescara, Rieti, Rome and Verona.
Heat waves occur when very high temperatures occur for several consecutive days, often associated with high humidity, strong solar radiation and no ventilation. These climatic conditions can represent a risk for the health of the population and especially of vulnerable subjects, namely the elderly, the chronically ill, children, pregnant women.
To prevent their possible effects, the Ministry publishes daily, with forecasts at 24, 48 and 72 hours, to identify the weather-climatic conditions at risk for health on a daily basis. The bulletins can also be consulted through the Caldo e Salute app, while from the Ministry portal it is possible to download information material on how to protect yourself.
