But perhaps wheat grass is considered the most insidious and tenacious of all weeds
– perennial cereal plant with long flat leaves and small spikelets. This is a strong weed that sucks out not only moisture, but also nutrients from the soil and makes it less fertile. In addition, it covers the sun from planting, and its root system is constantly growing.

How to deal with wheatgrass: life hacks

• Root removal.
  This is a rather labor intensive method. If the couch grass has not yet grown too large and has not occupied a large area, it can be pulled out of the ground with your hands. Or use a pitchfork – pry the weed and pull it out of the ground, trying not to damage the rhizomes, and then remove it from the site.

• Digging.
  With a shovel or cultivator, weed roots are crushed. Wheatgrass will still grow, but it will be small and weak, without a powerful root system, and it will subsequently be easier to pull it out of the soil. The main thing is to prevent the roots from growing again.

• Blackout.
  On a plantation overgrown with couch grass, lay out a black mulching film or black agrofibre. Wheat grass prefers the sun and does not like darkening. In this area, it will simply stop growing.
• Mulching.
  This method is suitable where crops with a weak root system are planted, and weeding is difficult to perform, and digging is generally not suitable. Then the soil between the beds should be covered with fallen leaves, straw, spunbond, etc. Due to the lack of sunlight, wheatgrass will gradually die.

• Sowing beans.

  . This cereal is a worthy rival of wheatgrass, because its roots kill the roots of the weed. Dig up the area and sow it with oats. Just have time to mow before the spikelets begin to ripen. Then dig up all the green mass, turning the layers down, and you can sow the oats again. So the earth will be cleared of couch grass and at the same time enriched with nitrogen from green manure.
