Caporalato in Caserta, 15 out of 18 farms irregular

Drought, Crema and Cremona: a journey to burnt and dry corn fields (ANSA)

(ANSA) – NAPLES, 22 JUN – Fifteen farms out of 18 controlled in the province of Caserta were not in compliance with the legislation on labor; in fact they employed illegal workers. This is what emerged from the anti-caporalato checks carried out by a task force composed of personnel from the Territorial Labor Inspectorates of Caserta, Salerno, Brindisi and Cagliari, together with the Carabinieri of the Caserta Labor Inspectorate Unit, the inspection staff of INPS and Spesal of the ASL of Caserta, with the participation of the cultural mediators made available by the IOM. The extraordinary supervisory activity was carried out as part of the SU.PR.EME. Multi-agency project, funded by the European Commission FAMI Fund 2014/2020 and coordinated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies. The checks were carried out on farms located mainly in the territories of the agro-Aversa, the agro-sessano and the Mazzoni area. At the end of the inspections, eight suspension measures were issued for as many companies, due to the ascertained presence of 25 “illegal” workers; in detail, the positions of 78 workers were verified, 53 of whom came from non-EU countries: 8 were found without a residence permit for work reasons and 2 entrepreneurs were reported for their employment. Investigations are underway to verify possible situations of exploitation. Verifications are also underway for any violations in terms of working hours and safety in the workplace. (HANDLE).
