In most cases the Carabinieri have ascertained that the offense was committed through the presentation of false declarations and documents, or by failing to communicate information that would have prevented obtaining the Citizenship Income. In other cases, however, the owners, after having insured themselves without being entitled to grant the benefit, have not communicated the changes in their income or assets.
The investigations carried out by the Carabinieri made it possible to block the undue perception of over 703 thousand euros. The estimated damage to the Treasury, averted by the checks, exceeds well over one and a half million euros. Among the most striking cases is that of a woman, denounced by the operating and radio-mobile unit of Cittaducale (Rieti), who, while benefiting from citizenship income, held and used a luxury car worth about 50 thousand euros and lived in a villa in Rome. , worth about 700 thousand euros, in the name of his partner.
