(ANSA) – ACIREALE, 23 JUN – Giuseppe Battiato, a farmer, was the man arrested by the carabinieri of the Acireale company as part of the investigation by the Catania Public Prosecutor’s Office on the double murder discovered yesterday in an agricultural fund in the Pennisi district. The man would have admitted his responsibilities, motivating the gesture with exasperation at the constant repetition of the thefts of lemons in his citrus grove. During a stakeout to catch thieves red-handed, the man, with a dynamic yet to be clarified, allegedly exploded gunshots against Vito Cunsolo, 29, and Virgilio Cunsolo Terrano, aged 30, killing them on the spot where they were found. During the night the carabinieri heard relatives, friends and acquaintances of the two victims, who are allegedly related to each other, to reconstruct their personalities and their acquaintances. Some family members had been looking for Cunsolo and Cunsolo Terrano, since they had not returned home the day before. Yesterday there were moments of tension after the discovery of the two bodies.
