(ANSA) – PADUA, JUN 24 – A crackdown on the use of drinking water in Padua for reasons that are not related to human consumption, or to health or hygiene needs. Due to the drought, an ordinance issued tonight by the mayor Sergio Giordani prohibits certain activities such as the washing of yards and vehicles – excluding car washes – the use of water in ornamental fountains or garden tubs that do not have systems recirculation, as well as watering public and private lawns and gardens between 6 am and midnight. The gardens, public or private, with crops for food purposes can be watered from midnight to 8 in the morning.
“Faced with the persistence of a drought that has few precedents in recent decades and which risks worsening further in the coming weeks – explains Giordani – it is necessary that we all do our part, limiting the consumption of drinking water, eliminating non-essential ones and rationalizing others “.
