Of all the servants of the people, only one MPs spoke out against the appointment of a new head of parliament
But not everyone was delighted with Stefanchuk’s candidacy. Collage “Today”
Ruslan Stefanchuk has been appointed the new head of the Verkhovna Rada. Of all those present in the hall, there were only three deputies who were against his appointment.
This is evidenced by the voting data on the parliament’s website.
It is curious that from the Servant of the People faction there was only one “apostate” – People’s Deputy Artem Dmitruk voted against.
Two more deputies who did not want Stefanchuk’s appointment – Sergei Vlasenko (“Batkivshchyna”) and Yevgeny Shevchenko (non-factional).
And now the former speaker Dmitry Razumkov was completely absent from the hall.
Permutations in the Rada
- On October 7, 284 people’s deputies voted for the dismissal of Dmitry Razumkov from the post of speaker. It is curious that the deputies of Batkivshchyna also supported his resignation. The politician himself made a fiery speech in which he reminded the deputies with what they went to the polls and what they promised people in 2019, as well as the principles of democracy that no longer work in parliament.
- Stefanchuk was originally named the main candidate for replacement. Read in more detail in our article why they wanted to see him as the speaker of the VR.
- It is also expected that the head of the Servant of the People party, Alexander Kornienko, will be appointed the first vice-speaker of the parliament, a post held by Stefanchuk.
