(ANSA) – MILAN, June 27 – First fountains closed in Milan this morning after the mayor, Giuseppe Sala, issued an ordinance to deal with the drought emergency. Only the fountains connected to the aqueduct are closed, the ornamental ones (without fish) while the green dragons will remain functional, the historic Milanese fountains that in these hot days will continue to quench the thirst of tourists and citizens.
The process of extinguishing the fountains, as the Municipality knows, will not end in a day but the goal is still to finish by the weekend. Today the technicians are working in the center where the main fountains are already closed, starting with that of Piazza San Babila and that of Piazza Fontana. For the scenic fountain in Piazza Castello it will take a few more days. (HANDLE).
