Migrants: false contracts for residence permits, 10 arrests

(ANSA) – BARI, June 27 – They allegedly had 453 non-EU citizens, of Indian, Sinhalese, Bengali, Pakistani nationality sign fake employment contracts, mainly in the construction sector, to obtain a residence permit. For this stratagem the migrants would have paid from one thousand to six thousand euros.

For the crimes of criminal association aimed at aiding illegal immigration and aggravated fraud, the financiers arrested ten people in the province of Bari.

The 49-year-old Maurizio Pappadopoli, accountant of Mola di Bari, and the 55-year-old Tanay Bhattacharajee, head of an immigration center, of Indian nationality, ended up in prison, accused of procuring the practices to the professional. For another eight house arrest was ordered, all entrepreneurs who would have lent themselves to sign the fake contracts in exchange for money or promises of money.
