Climate: activists stick to the gates of the Piedmont Region

(ANSA) – TURIN, 28 JUN – This morning some activists of the international non-violent movement Extinction Rebellion literally glued themselves with a powerful instant universal adhesive to the entrance of the Piedmont Region building, in Piazza Castello in Turin, blocking access. Posters with the slogan ‘Drought and climate crisis’ were affixed to all the windows.
“The objective of today’s action” says Giovanni, one of the activists glued to the main entrance “is to denounce the political inadequacy of this regional council in managing the state of water emergency, a symptom of the climate collapse, which is here and now in our daily life, and it is hitting our lands “.
“We are here because we expect the Piedmont Region to tackle this crisis at its root and listen to the scientific community,” explains Martina, who is also glued to the entrances.
“It is unacceptable that one expects to count the damages and then request a state of ‘natural disaster’, placing on the citizens the responsibility of rationing the water for a systemic problem that the institutions have deliberately chosen to ignore”.
The police are monitoring the situation and all activists have been identified by the police Digos. (HANDLE).
