Del Vecchio’s death celebrated online and on social media all over the world

Leonardo Del Vecchio passed away yesterday morning. The story of him, from the son of Apulian emigrants with a childhood in boarding school to an entrepreneur at the head of an empire of 180,000 employees, is exemplary. An example for everyone of how, thanks to stubbornness and determination, even the most unfortunate can potentially achieve success. For this reason ANSA and DataMediaHub analyzed the online conversations (social + online news + blog and forum) from a few hours before the announcement of his death until early morning today.

In 24 hours, there were just under 16 thousand online citations relating to Del Vecchio, by about 5 thousand unique authors, whose contents involved (like + reaction + comments and shares) more than 71 thousand people. Volume of conversations which, by virtue of the resonance given to the news by the media around the world, generated a potential reach, the so-called “opportunity to be seen”, of 122.8 billion impressions. Potential reach that we reasonably estimate corresponds to an actual reach of 6.1 billion views, before duplication. He has been talked about online and on social media all over the world. And in fact, after 100 online conversations about it, in addition of course to Italian, 23% of these are in English, 5.5% in Spanish, 2.4% in French and 1.6% in Turkish.

In the online conversations there were also hints of controversy from those who considered the celebrations of his death to be excessive, accusing him of being rich, having a mega yacht and a private plane. Controversy promptly returned to the sender by the majority of users. As shown by the infographic summarizing the results of our analysis, the word cloud, the word cloud with the 120 terms most used in association with the conversations on the subject, his start as a worker and the opening of his first shop in Agordo, his stay in the martinitt college and more generally his “humble” origins are engraved in the hearts of the people who wanted to greet him online as a good example. We can only join them and embrace his family in a collective embrace.
