How it was

Ruslan Stefanchuk wanted to give the floor to Kornienko, but the deputies began to actively express their desire to go home. Official version

The press secretary of “Servant of the People” Yulia Paliychuk explained the quick completion of the work of the people’s deputies.

“The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk closed the plenary session of the parliament. This proposal was made by MPs and supported by representatives of most factions and groups. This is due to the need for MPs to participate in official events and through pre-planned business trips and visits, including foreign ones. In particular, MPs have left or are planning to leave for a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, as well as for numerous events in the constituencies, “Paliychuk said on the telegram channel.

Consideration of the issue of appointing Kornienko as vice-speaker of parliament was postponed to the next plenary week, to October 19.

  • Stefanchuk was originally named the main candidate for replacement. Read more in our article why they wanted to see him as the speaker of the VR.
  • It is also expected that the head of the Servant of the People party, Alexander Kornienko, will be appointed the first vice-speaker of the parliament, a post held by Stefanchuk.
