Arrest of former investigating judge: De Benedictis sentenced to 12 years 8 months

(ANSA) – BARI, 28 JUN – The gup of the Court of Lecce Laura Liguori has sentenced the former investigating judge of Bari Giuseppe De Benedictis, accused – in competition with the agricultural entrepreneur Antonio Tannoia to 12 years and 8 months of imprisonment and the corporal major elected chief of the Army Antonio Serafino – of trafficking and possession of weapons and explosives, including war, of the relative ammunition and receiving stolen goods. At the end of a trial with an abbreviated procedure, the GUP also sentenced the co-defendant Tannoia to a sentence of 12 years and 8 months. The plea bargain for 5 years of imprisonment was ratified against the third accused, Serafino.

This is the second proceeding against the former Bari judge, already sentenced by the Lecce GUP to 9 years and 8 months of imprisonment for four episodes of corruption in judicial documents relating to alleged bribes pocketed in exchange for release from prison. (HANDLE).
