(ANSA) – VIAREGGIO (LUCCA), 29 JUN – A few minutes’ dispute and even some offense, tonight, against the mayor of Viareggio Giorgio Del Ghingaro who took part in the procession in memory of the railway massacre of 29 June 2009, which occurs on the 13th / or anniversary. Del Ghingaro, accompanied by his wife, walked behind the municipal banner wearing the tricolor sash, but his presence led some to scream at him. The reason is the municipality’s renunciation to continue as a civil party in the appeal process bis in Florence, which is expected to be sentenced tomorrow, following the compensation agreements agreed with the insurance companies. Marco Piagentini, one of the survivors of the massacre, tried to calm people down. The procession started at 9 pm from the square in front of the Municipality of Viareggio (Lucca) and commemorates the 32 victims of the explosions following the derailment due to a breakdown of the freight train with LPG gas. At the end there will be 32 tolls of the bell at the ‘Casina dei Ricordi’, place of the memory of the massacre, and the reading of the names of the victims at 11.48 pm. Present at the event are the governor of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, the regional councilor Stefano Baccelli, the senator Gianluca Ferrara (M5s), the other mayors of Versilia and also the newly elected mayor of Lucca Mario Pardini.
