The competition for the election of the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine will be announced in the coming days or weeks. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a briefing with the Prime Minister of Norway, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“As for NABU: the competition must be announced, there must be a full composition of the commission. I am sure that this will be done in the coming days or weeks,” the head of state said.
According to him, a special commission deals with the appointment of a special anti-corruption prosecutor.
“As for the head of the SAP: not the president, but another commission decides who wins. After that, the prosecutor general decides, not the president,” he added.
He also recalled that after Ukraine was granted candidate status, EU members put forward a number of recommendations for this to happen, including the election of the heads of NABU and SAPO.
It should be noted that on July 1, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen called on the leadership of Ukraine to speed up the appointment heads of anti-corruption departments.
