Woman killed at home in Calabria, husband in the barracks Cc

(ANSA) – MANDATORICCIO, 02 JUL – A retired teacher, Domenica Caligiuri, 71, was killed with a few stab wounds in her home in Mandatoriccio, in the lower Ionian coast of Cosenza. The woman’s husband, who is 73, was accompanied to the barracks to be heard by the Carabinieri of the Corigliano Rossano Territorial Department. At the moment, no restrictive measures have been adopted against him, but there are well-founded suspicions, according to what has been learned, that it was he who killed Domenica Caligiuri.

The victim allegedly had frequent quarrels with her husband. The man, who is still under interrogation in the Mandatoriccio barracks after being tracked down by the carabinieri outside the house where he lived with his wife, would be denying that he was responsible for the murder, but the suspicions in this sense about him would be concrete. To give the alarm that triggered the investigations that led to the discovery of the corpse of Domenica Caligiuri were the relatives of the woman, worried that for some time they had not heard from her.

The woman’s body was found by the carabinieri on the double bed of the house where the victim lived with her husband. The body would remain on the bed for two days without the teacher’s husband leaking anything to the outside about what had happened. The retired teacher was allegedly killed last Thursday and from that day on, the woman’s husband continued to pretend nothing happened, without warning anyone and behaving apparently normal.

The couple had two children, who were not at home at the time of the murder. One, in fact, lives outside Calabria, while the other resides in a center in the province of Crotone.
