(ANSA) – TRENTO, 04 JUL – The firefighters manned the area of the collapse in Marmolada all night with drones and soon the drones of the Trentino Alpine Rescue will also take off. In the meantime, two groups of relatives of victims and missing have arrived in Canazei, who have increased in number: they are in fact three or four more than the 16 communicated yesterday. The victims are all at the Canazei ice rink, where the funeral home has been set up and where the relatives, in the morning, will begin the painful ritual of recognizing the bodies.

At the moment there are 6 confirmed victims: three Italians, a Czechoslovakian, plus a man and a woman not yet identified, but the toll is likely to worsen. The weather conditions will be decisive for evaluating the direct intervention of rescuers: the cold and low temperatures are essential to guarantee a minimum of safety for operations, given that an enormous amount of unsafe ice remained on the mountain. To evaluate how to proceed, the evaluation of the meteorologists of Arabba and Meteo Trentino will be fundamental.

The activities of rescuers on the Marmolada glacier continued during the night to look for any survivors after yesterday’s disaster. Personnel from the Trentino Civil Protection were involved in the inspections, with the support of the Alpine Rescue and the drones of the Fire Brigade equipped with thermal cameras, capable of identifying the source of heat emitted by a person even in the dark. At the moment there is no news on the outcome of the inspections. (HANDLE).
