(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 04 JUL – If rains are not able to loosen the grip of the heat of these days and the drought situation persists, the Consortium of Reclamation Pianura Friulana will be forced from next Wednesday, July 6, to close the Roiello di Pradamano, and from Saturday 9 July part of the Cividina canal (in the final stretch from Casali Merlo in the municipality of Povoletto downstream). This was announced by the Consortium itself at the end of a meeting of technicians called today to take stock of the weekly situation.
In some areas the difficulties are accentuating due to the drop in pressure of the few wells still in operation, as for the wells of Medio Friuli; therefore less water will be guaranteed to the consortium members where critical conditions will remain. In the lower Friuli area there are difficulties in 500 hectares in the municipality of Bagnaria Arsa, where the Taglio canal has a much lower flow rate than the average for this season. The Zuina canal, in the municipality of Torviscosa, is also in difficulty. Extraordinary irrigation remains difficult in Ariis di Rivignano, Torsa di Pocenia, Muzzana.
The Consorzio di Bonifica Pianura Friulana sent a note to the mayors of the municipalities involved in the irrigation service requesting collaboration in the appropriate use of the water resource, inviting them to exercise control, through the rural police, in particular for the prevention of damage and for road safety in case of flooding caused by improper irrigation.
