(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 05 – A sentence and an acquittal. Thus ended the trial of first instance relating to the case of the “pax mafiosa” on the coast of Rome, in the Ostia area. The judges of the collegiate court sentenced Salvatore Casamonica to 16 years in prison (already at 41 bis) accused of complicity with the mafia. Same offense challenged the lawyer Angelo Staniscia, acquitted with the formula “for not having committed the deed”. For the criminal lawyer, the Prosecutor had asked for a sentence of 12 and a half years.
At the center of the procedure, coordinated by the deputy Ilaria Calò and by the substitutes Mario Palazzi and Giovanni Musarò, an agreement signed in a restaurant in Grottaferrata, in December 2017, in which also Fabrizio Piscitelli, the Diabolik killed in Rome on 7 August of 2019. The lawyer Lucia Gargano was sentenced in abbreviated terms to 6 years and 8 months for this affair.
“The jurisdiction works – commented the lawyer Cesare Placanica, defender of Staniscia -. It was an evidential process and therefore in the trial phase the absolute lack of suitable elements to support the accusation emerged”. (HANDLE).
