(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 09 – A huge fire broke out this afternoon in Rome in the area of Via Casilina. The dense cloud of smoke is visible throughout the eastern quadrant of the capital including the area of Centocelle, Cinecittà and the Appio district.
Firefighters at work. Many citizens report on social media that they have heard of the “explosions” coming from the vast fire that is affecting the area of the Centocelle park.
It is not excluded, therefore, that the flames are also affecting a car wrecker present in the area. The very high cloud of black smoke is also visible from the center of Rome, including the Circus Maximus.
“It is a dramatic situation. The fire has not yet been circumscribed and thanks to the wind it is also reaching the area of Via Papiria. We invite citizens to keep the windows closed and to use the masks even on the street in the area affected by the dense cloud of smoke”. This was stated by the president of the 5th municipality of Rome, Mauro Caliste. (HANDLE).
