(ANSA) – PALERMO, 09 JUL – Ten colored floats have crossed the historic center. Gay Pride Palermo 2022 is back on stage with many participants who crowded the streets. Lots of music, colored balloons and a procession that crossed the Cassaro, via Roma and via Cavour to get to Villa Filippina. At the head of the parade the mayor Roberto Lagalla, for the first time at Pride. “My greeting – said Lagalla – to a plural and inclusive community, just as a modern and welcoming city must be. Palermo does not retreat on rights”. Claudio Fava and other center-left leaders and other politicians were present at the demonstration. “Here, as always, since we began this adventure – said Fabrizio Ferrandelli, city councilor – also in institutional representation of the City Council who believes that the battle for rights must never let down our guard and attention”. Lots of flags with the colors of the rainbow, selfies with policemen, banners with the words: “I am a mother, I am Christian, I am not Giorgia”.
Many slogans that accompanied the parade such as “But which State, but which God, I decide on my body”. “Neither lands nor bodies are lands of conquest”: this is the slogan chosen this year: “A parallel – says Luigi Carollo, coordinator of Palermo Pride – which is a constant for us. For years our movement has signaled the dangers linked to the silencing of LGBTQIA + people by the Russian Parliament: this shows that sooner or later discrimination always becomes the mother of tanks “.
