(ANSA) – PRATO, 09 JUL – As many as four carabinieri were injured at the end of a chase in the Montemurlo countryside (Prato) to arrest two thieves, shadowed for some time as suspected perpetrators of thefts in homes. The two, 26 and 34-year-old Albanians, both without a residence permit, unemployed, were joined after a ramming of an Arma car and their escape on foot, and when there was contact with the military they reacted hitting them. A carabiniere had 20 days of prognosis for a suspected chest fracture, another 10 days for a punch in the face with swelling of one eye, the other two five days for various injuries. The arrest took place for the theft in one house and the attempted theft in another while they were observed by carabinieri who had suspected them for some time. But after the validation, the investigating judge of Prato released the youngest, as he had a clean record. The other went to prison but not for these facts but because he has to serve 11 months for a sentence for theft in the Plain of Florence in 2014, a penalty that he had commuted to expulsion from Italy for 10 years and repatriation to Albania.

The ‘barter’ was obtained with the approval of the surveillance court of Florence but did not respect it by returning to the Peninsula as an illegal immigrant. On this fact, however, the investigating judge from Prato gave him the ban on returning to Tuscany.

The carabinieri had for some time been watching a suspicious car, a Toyota Yaris, seen around the Oste area. The license plate also revealed that the holder is a Moldovan who owns 124 cars, an anomaly that aroused the investigative interest of the carabinieri from Prato. At about 11.30 pm on Thursday evening the two tried to enter the house of a worker in Oste, in via Battisti, but the alarm went off and they gave up on the theft. Then, they managed to enter the house near a craftsman, taking away 100 euros in cash and rings in gold and stones worth 1,500 euros. Tracked down and pursued, they reacted by ramming a car from the Arma, an accident that also caused the injury of one of the two Albanians who hit his head against the passenger side windshield.
