(ANSA) – GENOA, 10 JUL – Moments of fear in the afternoon along the Ligurian coast when a motorboat is half sunk a few meters from the coast in the waters of the Baia dei Saraceni in Varigotti, a hamlet of Finale Ligure (Savona). On board the boat, about ten meters long, there were ten people, including some children. There are no injuries. The occupants of the boat were rescued by tourists who were aboard other boats moored near the sunken one.
The captain did not abandon the boat until the arrival of the Coast Guard, who recovered him with a patrol boat and then transported to the command of Savona for all the necessary investigations.
The cause of the accident has yet to be clarified: there were no collisions with other boats and therefore a failure of some on-board system is not excluded. The survey will be carried out by the Port Authority of Savona which will begin the recovery operations of the vessel tomorrow and is monitoring the situation to make sure that it does not cause pollution.
