(ANSA) – MILAN, 11 JUL – The firefighters of the investigative section of the provincial command of Milan appointed by the judicial authority to carry out technical surveys on the fire that broke out yesterday in a building in via Sicilian Vespers, which caused the wounding of eight people, two of whom are serious. According to initial findings, it may have been an imprudence or a distraction that caused the flames.

The second floor apartment where the fire broke out was regularly inhabited. The landlady, Grazia R., aged 51, was transported to the hospital for examination. It is probable that already this morning you were heard by the carabinieri, who intend to understand what happened.

The apartment has been declared unfit for use. A similar decision was made by the fire brigade for the adjacent ones, despite having taken it from a structural point of view. In all, 17 people were evacuated.

Meanwhile, the conditions of the elderly man remain serious, hospitalized in intensive care at the Polyclinic because he was intoxicated; an 84-year-old, on the other hand, is hospitalized at the San Carlo, not in danger of life. Of the other six hospitalized, four, in yellow code, were either discharged or detained for observation. All reported varying levels of smoke poisoning; no one is burned.
