(ANSA) – PALERMO, JUL 13 – It had disappeared, but now the sign of the Palermo airport dedicated to the magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino is clearly visible on the north facade of the Terminal. It was an order of ENAC, wanted by the President Pierluigi Di Palma, to order the immediate relocation. During his recent visit to Palermo, the President had noticed what he had considered a “negligent disposal”, however, precisely 30 years after the ferocious mafia assassination of Giovanni Falcone, on May 23, 1992, and of Paolo Borsellino, on July 19 of the same year. The title had been removed in preparation for the expansion and renovation of the airport: works which, as shown by the supervisory activities carried out by ENAC, are far behind the time schedule originally envisaged in the project.
“Taking into account the cultural and social relevance of the naming of the Punta Raisi airport to the two valiant magistrates who fell to the mafia – said President Di Palma – and the importance of giving physical visibility to this title, especially in the thirty years of the attacks , we have decided to intervene and order its immediate restoration “.
