Illicit gas traffic between Campania and Sardinia, 14 complaints

(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, 14 JUL – Fourteen people reported in Lazio, Sardinia and Campania, 8,160 cylinders and 53,000 liters of liquid propane gas seized. This is the balance sheet of a maxi operation coordinated by the Financiers of the Provincial Commands of Frosinone and Cagliari who implemented a decree issued by the Gip of the Court of Cassino. The suspects are accused, in various capacities, of fraud in the exercise of trade, embezzlement, attacks on transport safety and failure to comply with navigation safety regulations. The investigations by the judicial police, initiated by the Economic-Financial Police Unit of Cagliari and continued by the Cassino Group, were carried out under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Cassino and uncovered illicit trafficking in liquid propane gas cylinders from from Campania and destined for Sardinia.

According to investigators, the distributor of liquid propane gas cylinders, based in Sardinia, thanks to the willingness of some retailers, had managed to get their hands on 100,000 empty containers, owned by well-known companies in the sector and had transferred them to Campania , where they had been subjected to “washing” (“repainting with company colors other than the original ones with identification tags and false data of periodic reviews never carried out”, explain the Fiamme Gialle). Finally they were refilled, “moreover with a quantity of liquid propane gas lower than that declared”, and returned to the final purchasers by sea in trucks loaded on cargo or passenger ships operating between Sardinia and Campania, “generating significant risks. for the safety and security of crews and travelers “, explain the financiers.
