The 16-year-old explained that the meeting that night was completely random: the two crossed paths while they were on a scooter. He asked her about those posts about her, believing that they were still together and that she had betrayed him. The result was an argument that culminated in a slash inflicted not with a knife, he explained, but with a cutter that he kept hooked to his keys. The 16-year-old is challenged by article 583 quinquies of the criminal code, a crime that punishes those convicted of causing a deformation of the person’s appearance with permanent facial injuries with imprisonment of up to 14 years.
