(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 15 – The Cassino judges acquitted all five defendants for the murder of Serena Mollicone. In the courtroom after the sentence she shouts “shame” but also tears and hugs. The judges, after about ten hours in the council chamber, dropped the charges for Marco Mottola, his father Franco, former commander of the Arce carabinieri and his wife Anna Maria. The three were accused of the murder that took place in the town in the province of Frosinone in June 2001. Vincenzo Quatrale, at the time deputy marshal and accused of external complicity in murder, was also acquitted, and the police officer Francesco Suprano who was charged with the aiding and abetting.
The Cassino prosecutor had asked for a sentence of 24 years for Marco Mottola, 30 for his father Franco and 21 years for his wife Anna Maria. The three were accused of complicity in murder.
The request for a sentence was 15 years for Quatrale, and 4 years for Suprano. (HANDLE).
