(ANSA) – COSENZA, 20 JUL – Four people were arrested by the carabinieri of the Ros and the provincial command of Cosenza, in execution of an order of custody in prison issued by the Gip of Catanzaro at the request of the DDA. The 4 are under investigation, in competition for two murders, that of Luciano Martello, committed in Fuscaldo on July 12, 2003, and of Antonio Maiorano, committed in Paola on July 21, 2004. Maiorano, a clean forest worker, was killed by mistake because he was mistaken for a local boss, real target of the ambush, due to his physical resemblance. The real target worked in the same building site where Maiorano was located. The arrests were made in Rome and Cosenza.

The precautionary measure came at the end of the investigative investigations conducted in the wake of previous criminal proceedings on the same crimes, which accrued, according to the accusation, in the context of the balance between the ‘Ndrangheta gangs operating at the time in the territory of Paola. For the crimes, in recent years, there have been convictions and acquittals that have become definitive.

At the moment, the investigators did not want to provide the identities of the arrested. (HANDLE).
