(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 21 – Having a national government is important but Rome’s candidacy to win Expo 2030 is strong and above all it will not be destabilized by the crisis and by the resignation of Mario Draghi. Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, president of the promoting committee, is certain of this: “Having a government is very important because the perception” that is given “must be that it is not a local initiative but of the whole country, including the national authorities”, he said on the sidelines of the institutional table of the States General presented today in the Capitol. The ambassador, however, underlined that “institutions are strong regardless of who embodies them”, recalling that even Expo in Milan “has experienced a similar thing, with an institutional change”. Whatever the nature and color of the government team, the candidacy is “a unifying and important opportunity”, a message reaffirmed in the hall of the Protomoteca also by the mayor Roberto Gualtieri who promised a “green and sustainable Expo”. “It will not be the Expo of cement but of greenery” said Gualtieri announcing that “a large green power plant” will be built that will feed Expo and remain in the district. That of the Capital will be the Sustainability Exhibition and “in addition to the energy community” and the pavilions that “can be reused”, Gualtieri specified that a connection carpet on iron will start, with an underground route, but also a large mobility corridor green. A “great” green path that “will cross the Forums, the Appia Antica, the aqueducts up to the Expo area, for an exhibition that will not only have its showcase in that area, but the possibility of redeveloping an entire quadrant” ( HANDLE).
