(ANSA) – MASSAROSA (LUCCA), 21 JUL – Between late yesterday evening and last night, the fire that broke out three days ago in Bozzano, on the hills of Massarosa in Versilia (Lucca), spread towards Valpromaro, in municipality of Camaiore and Piazzano, fraction of Lucca, descending towards the Sp1 state road where the intervention of the firefighters stopped the advance of the flames thus avoiding the involvement of the inhabited center. The fire front present in the hamlet of Gualdo, in the municipality of Massarosa, then crossed the hill towards the hamlet of Panicale where part of the firefighting forces are concentrating. This is what we learn from the fire brigade.
Following the progress of the flames, the partial evacuation of Valpromaro and the total evacuation of Piazzano was ordered, arranged respectively by the mayors of Camaiore and Lucca: according to the data released by the firefighters, about 120 other people were thus added to the total of 500 evacuees reached yesterday. At the moment, the estimate is 860 hectares affected by the fire. Dozens of ground crews are at work – 105 firefighters alone – and 3 AIB helicopters from the Tuscany Region and 3 Canadair helicopters and an air fleet helicopter from the fire brigade. Meanwhile, the Municipality of Massarosa recommends the use of the mask outdoors: “Arpat confirms – we read on the Facebook profile of the administration – that it is not dangerous for breathing because it is large”.
