“DNA helped on the butts”: the killer who tried to kill the Nikolaev “Cartoon” was detained

Law enforcers report that they detained the shooter in Nikolaev businessman Mikhail Titov nicknamed “Cartoon”… The perpetrator left cigarette butts at the ambush site with DNA samples.

What is known

According to the investigation, back in April 2020, he shot at local businessman Mikhail Titov, better known in criminal circles by the nickname “Cartoon”.

In the attic of the house opposite the place where the victim often visited, the shooter set up an ambush. After the assassination attempt, the perpetrator left a gun there, on which traces of his DNA were found.

Venediktova said that the DNA coincidence happened during a check for involvement in the crime of one of the local residents. DNA samples on the butts matched those on the weapon and indicated the shooter’s identity.

What is known about the detainee

The detainee has a conflict with the law and is known in criminal circles. He was tried and is accused of extortion and fraud proceedings.

The bullet hit the head of “Multik”. Titov survived, but has significant health problems.

Law enforcement officers consider the redistribution of criminal spheres of influence in the region to be one of the motives for the possible order of his murder.

• The assassination attempt on Mikhail Titov – known as “Cartoon” – was carried out on Monday afternoon, April 6, 2020. The victim received a bullet wound to the neck and jaw. Only due to the fact that the guards delivered the wounded man to the emergency station in just a few minutes, they managed to save him.
• According to doctors, he lost about 3 liters of blood and was taken to the hospital in a state of hemorrhagic shock. After doctors stabilized the condition, a team of maxillofacial surgeons performed an operation, during which the damaged blood vessels were sutured.
• The police managed to find the weapon from which they made an attempt – on the technical floor of a five-story residential building at 47 Sevastopolskaya Street, in Nikolaev, according to preliminary data, an automatic rifle of the BCC “Vintorez” type was found.
