(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 22 – From June 15 to July 21, 32,921 interventions were carried out by firefighters for forest fires and vegetation in general, 4,040 more than in the same period last year, when they were 28,881. A total of 141,566 firefighters were involved in extinguishing operations, 53,587 vehicles used, for a total of 39,753 hours of intervention. In the same period last year, 131,710 firefighters and 50,724 vehicles employed, 33,795 hours of intervention.
The greatest number of fires is recorded in Sicily, where the firefighters carried out 6,534 interventions. The other regions most affected by the fires were Puglia (5,134), Lazio (4,799), Calabria (3,195), Campania (2,730) and Tuscany (1,529). (HANDLE).
