Rapid test investigation Veneto, for prosecutor excluded corruption

(ANSA) – PADUA, JULY 22 – The elements that emerged from the Padua survey on rapid tests in Veneto “tend to exclude profiles of corruption or involvement of higher-level political levels in contested decisions”. The Public Prosecutor Antonino Cappelleri specifies this in a note.

The Veneto Region and the Azienda Zero body were informed of the request for indictment, with which the defendants, Roberto Rigoli and Patrizia Simionato, have relationships of dependence. The deeds were also sent by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office to the Court of Auditors of Venice, which will assess any damage to the state in the matter.

According to the Paduan judiciary, in summary, the administrative procedure of direct assignment, managed by Azienda Zero, to the company Abbott Srl of Milan, for a supply of 480 thousand rapid tests, which took place in two tranches in August and September 2020, would have been altered. , for a total amount of 2,160,000 euros. Rigoli also accused of misdirection, for having provided investigators with “bogus documentation” on the validity of the tests. The head of the Treviso Emergency Department, Enrico Bernardi, who had first confirmed Rigoli’s version but later retracted, was also involved, and his position was thus closed.

The preliminary hearing was set for 12 December next, before the Gup Maria Luisa Materia. (HANDLE).
