(ANSA) – ANCONA, 22 JUL – Identifies who has to make the steps in the health service and above all shortens the time within which a sick person, who has the requisites, will be accompanied to sweet death: in just 20 days it will be possible to access suicide assisted, based on the sentence of the Constitutional Court ‘Cappato / djFabo’. It is the regional law proposal on the end of life, the first of its kind in Italy, prepared by the Luca Coscioni association and agreed with the regional council group of the Marche Democratic Party. The first signatory was the group leader Maurizio Mangialardi who illustrated the contents today together with Filomena Gallo, secretary of the Luca Coscioni association. The proposal is already in the Health Commission and will soon land in the Regional Council. It is spread over 5 articles that establish that it is the health company that verifies the requirements of the person applying for assisted suicide, within ten days of the request. Within 5 days the health company sends the reports to the competent ethics committee which must issue its opinion within the following 5 days and send it to the health company which will immediately inform the person concerned.

The goal is to “stem obstructions, delays and difficulties”, reads the report, which characterized the cases of Federico Carboni (Mario), from Senigallia (Ancona), the first Italian who on June 16 had access to suicide assisted, after a two-year legal battle, by Fulvio Ridolfi, who despite having the requisites had to wait months to get the positive opinion of the Marche Region ethics committee and in the end preferred to resort to deep sedation and ‘Antonio’, too with a positive opinion but with no indication of the drug to be used or the method of administration: he has again denounced the Asur and is considering whether to reopen the practice to have assisted suicide in Switzerland.
